CARTOON BOATS

Crail, Scotland

Tuesday 11 September 2012

I've posted a few photos from Crail showing the walled harbour and some of the fishing boats moored inside. These three boats are however the cutest ones of them all (if fishing boats can be cute?) and were all lined up waiting for someone to take their photo. There is almost a cartoon quality to their looks and I'm sure the furthest one is looking at me! (319/365)

BLUE AND GREEN

Rottnest Island, Australia

Tuesday 11 September 2012

This scene caught my eye because of the unusual flowing lines in the seaweed. The vivid green makes a great contrast against the red in the rocks and the blue in the water. As a child we were always taught that 'blue and green shouldn't be seen …', but it works for me! What do you think? (317/365)

SCOTTISH HEDGEROW

Peebles, Scotland

Wednesday 3 October 2012

One of my favourite parts of the world is Scotland. Rugged countryside and narrow roadways, along with friendly people and single malt whiskey, all make for a perfect experience. This photo was taken outside Peebles in the Borders at the end of a very long and cold winter. I love the hedgerows that are neatly cut along the roads and was amazed to learn that there are 46,000 km of them in Scotland! (315/365)

WALKING BRIDGE

Melbourne, Australia

Thursday 6 September 2012

Melbourne's Yarra River is a focal point for city life, separating the CBD from the Southbank precinct. A number of bridges cross the river, including this walking bridge which touches on a boat shaped island in the middle. (314/365)

TO THE LIFEBOAT

Queenscliff, Victoria, Australia

Monday 3 September 2012

The Queenscliff Pier and Lifeboat complex is of architectural significance as a collection of rare surviving intact timber pier structures. The lifeboat shed is of architectural significance as a rare intact example of a jetty mounted lifeboat shed. Few if any of these sheds remain in Victoria. Similarly the barrel shape of the shed roof is an uncommon aspect. [Source: www.onmydoorstep.com.au] (311/365)

BRIDGE TO THE SUN

Barwon Heads, Australia

Sunday 2 September 2012

This photo was taken looking across the Barwon River to the Ocean Grove side as the sun came up. Mornings can be so peaceful! (310/365)

HAPPY PHOTOGRAPHER!

Geelong, Australia

Saturday 1 September 2012

Geelong is fortunate to have the Barwon River running though it, providing not only a recreational facility for rowing and skiing, but also a visual aspect that only a body of water can provide. Throw in a sunset and you also make a photographer happy! :-) (309/365)
